Basketball news: Parker and Stoudemire Headline 2026 Hall of Fame Class

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has revealed its highly anticipated Class of 2026, celebrating a remarkable group of individuals who have profoundly impacted the game of basketball. The announcement, made on April 4, 2026, highlights both seasoned coaches and legendary players across men’s and women’s basketball.

Among the confirmed inductees is Doc Rivers, currently the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. Rivers has made an indelible mark in the NBA, leading teams to multiple playoff appearances and lifting the championship trophy in 2008 with the Boston Celtics. Joining him in this elite group is former Phoenix Suns coach Mike D’Antoni, known for his innovative offensive strategies that revolutionized the game, particularly during his tenure with the Suns in the mid-2000s.

The player category boasts an impressive lineup as well. Amar’e Stoudemire, a former All-Star and pivotal figure in the Suns’ success, will take his rightful place in the Hall. He is joined by two-time WNBA champion and Olympic gold medalist, Candace Parker, along with the versatile Elena Delle Donne, who has redefined the forward position in women’s basketball.

On the coaching front, Mark Few, the head coach at Gonzaga University, finds himself among the inductees. Few has consistently guided Gonzaga to success, achieving at least 20 wins in every season since he took the helm. His contributions extend beyond college basketball, having served on the coaching staff that led the U.S. to Olympic gold in 2024. Additionally, Joey Crawford, a veteran NBA referee with a storied career spanning 39 seasons, will also be honored for his contributions to the sport, having officiated every NBA Finals from 1986 until 2015.

The women’s category features Chamique Holdsclaw, a standout athlete who earned accolades as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft. With six All-Star selections and three NCAA championships to her name, Holdsclaw represents a generation of players who paved the way for future stars.

A significant highlight of this year’s induction is the recognition of the 1996 U.S. Women’s National Team, a squad that dominated the competition with an unblemished 8-0 record en route to Olympic gold. Coached by Tara VanDerveer, this team not only captured the hearts of fans but also played a crucial role in the establishment of the WNBA, which launched later that year.

This year’s Hall of Fame class exemplifies excellence, resilience, and the evolution of basketball, showcasing a rich tapestry of talent that spans generations. As reported by hoopswire.com, the induction ceremony promises to be a memorable event, celebrating both the athletes and coaches who have shaped the landscape of basketball as we know it today.
