In a significant development for the Brooklyn Nets, the organization has officially announced the addition of forward E.J. Liddell through a two-way contract, alongside the signing of center Day’Ron Sharpe to a substantial two-year deal worth $12 million. These strategic moves are poised to bolster the Nets’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

E.J. Liddell, who turned 24 this year, was selected 41st overall in the 2022 NBA Draft after a standout career at Ohio State. Unfortunately, his journey has been hampered by injury; he suffered a torn ACL during the Summer League, limiting his exposure to NBA competition. During his brief tenure with the New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls, Liddell has managed to accumulate only 76 minutes of playing time over two seasons. However, he demonstrated his potential in the G League last year with the Windy City Bulls, where he averaged an impressive 15.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Now, he joins fellow two-way player Tyson Etienne, leaving one additional slot available for Brooklyn to fill as training camp approaches.

Meanwhile, Day’Ron Sharpe’s signing had been anticipated since June, but the Nets took their time to finalize the deal as they navigated their salary cap situation. With over $10 million still available in cap space, Brooklyn finds itself in a favorable position to continue making adjustments to its roster, aiming for greater depth and versatility.

In Atlanta, the Hawks have also made headlines by filling out their training camp roster with new additions. The team has signed forward Javan Johnson and guard Dwight Murray Jr., both expected to receive Exhibit 10 contracts. Javan Johnson, 26, spent the majority of the previous season with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League, where he showcased his scoring ability by averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. The Hawks are likely hopeful that Johnson can contribute meaningfully as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.

This offseason has been a pivotal time for both the Nets and Hawks as they look to strengthen their squads. The Nets’ moves reflect a commitment to optimizing their lineup, while the Hawks are making strategic additions to enhance competition during training camp.

As reported by hoopswire.com, both teams are positioned to make significant strides in the Eastern Conference, and fans will be watching closely as these players integrate into their respective systems. The NBA landscape is shifting, and with each contract signing, the anticipation for the new season continues to build.
